New Piano Syllabus 2027–2028 Coming Soon (ABRSM Update)
Introduction
If you’re currently taking piano lessons or planning to start, here’s an important update.
A new piano syllabus for 2027–2028 will be released soon, bringing refreshed repertoire and updated learning materials for students from Initial Grade to Grade 8.
What You Need to Know
The upcoming syllabus will include:
🎼 New pieces and repertoire for Practical and Performance Grades
📚 New books and multimedia resources
🗓️ Official release date: 4 June 2026
Good news for current students:
👉 There are no changes to scales, arpeggios, sight-reading, or aural tests for Practical Grades.
👉 Students can continue using the 2025–2026 syllabus until 31 December 2027.
However:
⚠️ During the transition period, all exam pieces must be chosen from one syllabus only (no mixing).

There is no need to rush to change immediately
You can choose the syllabus that best suits your timeline and level
Teachers can help decide whether to stay or switch
